Handmade Dolls Store » OOAK American Made

Cloth doll making has magic to it: a flat piece of cloth that comes to life in a variety of characterizations—some are collectable art dolls that represent a character we admire, or a person we love, and some are kid-friendly (for ages 8 and above) made to be loved.

A doll is a way of appreciating the infinite variety of our fellow humans.

The fun of cloth doll making is the many mediums available to the artist: sewing, designing, painting, sculpting, costuming, embellishment, and more—always pushing the edge to become a better artist, or to find a new or better way to improve the craft.

My name is Lynne and I'm a cloth doll maker. I research all of my character dolls (such as Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill, Sitting Bull, White Buffalo Calf Woman, etc.) to try to capture the essence of that persona. Same is true of dolls that are designed with one person in mind, that either contain pieces of fabric, or a hank of hair, or an old family treasure that evokes a memory or tells a story that make it a treasured heirloom.

So much of doll art is about story, and so it is with this website, so please check in regularly as our story unfolds. And perhaps you'll see something you like, and want me to make a character doll, or a personal doll, or a kid-friendly doll for you or someone you love. We can chat about that and more on my Facebook Page.

All of my dolls are individually hand crafted, American made, and one-of-a-kind (OOAK). If you have any questions or comments, please send them from my Contact Form below.

Traditional dolls are sometimes used as children's playthings, but they may also have spiritual, magical and ritual value. There is no defined line between spiritual dolls and toys. In some cultures dolls that had been used in rituals were given to children. They were also used in children's education and as carriers of cultural heritage. In our culture they are often prized by adults and children alike. And let's face it, the things that make our children happy make us happy...

Kerry Gold update... Molly now puts her to bed in her rocking chair with a pillow and blanket, and has asked if she can take Kerry Gold on all of her playdates. The neighborhood is extremely jealous about Molly having her very own custom look alike doll. Kerry Gold is already so well loved and part of the family. We will send more pictures. This is the gift of a lifetime, and something to cherish...
